Legos are timeless. My son enjoyed putting the set together, however, there are some pieces that don't seem to stay together as well as others especially when it is played with.
If you're a regular Ninjago fan, this will be a good one for the collection, but probably nothing special. The balloon parts are great to have, but there's only seven of them, not eight for a full one. The parts included are pretty great, and if you're not a huge Ninjago fan like me, then the parts are a brilliant addition. There's only five of these moulds in existence, with each colour only being in one set each, so they're very cool to have. The purple and white from a Friends set, and the red and black from a City Police Station set. It's quite a collectible set considering the parts.
Ninjago fans can use the Raid Zeppelin and included minifigures to dream up, and play out, an air-pirate-themed adventure. The pirates and Ninja Zane are enemies, which provides two opposing groups, with vehicles, in one set.
As the title would show, I feel like this set is really creative and fun. The way LEGO has created the hot air balloon look is very creative. I really like the new mini figs this series has to offer, especially the armor only being on one shoulder. The villains in this series are pretty epic. I currently have this set flying above my LEGO city on a couple clear stands I stole from my Star Wars droids. Looks awesome! Can't wait for the summer sets!
For my response to this, I shall paraphrase Douglas Adams: It is held up in the air because it is aesthetically pleasing, artistically right. It is, after all, a toy, based on a fantasy story, made into a cartoon. I do not let issues of comic book physics prevent me from enjoying the look of a craft.
All in all, this is a fantastic little set. Of course, it helps if you're a fan of the Ninjago theme, or — like me — a fan of Steampunk and anything with the word “Zeppelin" in it. Still, this is a solid set, and a fantastic playset. Kids of all ages will get a kick out of swooshing the zeppelin around, and it's quite sturdy enough to withstand a great deal of sky shenanigans.
