My 8 year old son got this for Christmas. His older brother, who is 13. Built it for him. This is something a parent and child could play with together. There's a ton of cool features I wish I had as a kid. I asked my 8 year old if he liked it. He was too busy playing with it which makes me think he loves it. I asked my 13 year old, who is a Lego know-it-all, if this set was worth the $110. He said " I'd recommend it to anyone who either loves Lego or Lego ninjago because its a big set with a lot of playability and I enjoyed building it.
Purchased for Christmas for 13 year old grandson who loves lego building. He enjoyed it very much.
Although the building of the set didn't excite me as much as some of the others I have built recently, the final product is really good. There are plenty of fun play features with the containment pod at the rear and the spinning platform on top being the highlights. I also like the choice of featuring different sized tyres and tracks, with helps to add to the apocalyptic mismatched feel of the set. The Dragon Armour statue is a nice addition to the set, especially has you get all of the main pieces of it. Finally there is a nice spread of Minifigures included. For those collecting the NINJAGO characters, this set is a must thanks to Teen Wu, who is a very unique version of a much-loved character. In fact the whole set is quite unique, as there hasn't really been any sort of similar large scale wheeled vehicle in past LEGO NINJAGO sets.
I'm pleased to report that this set definitely lived up to my expectations. In fact, I think that the Dieselnaut looks better in person than in the official pictures. It's big and imposing, the design is idiosyncratic and imaginative, and I love the colour scheme with its prominent use of olive green and orange allied to dark bluish grey and black. Arguably more importantly for the target demographic, it provides a huge amount of play potential, with an impressive variety of play features shoehorned into the vehicle.
