70808 Super Cycle Chase is in my eyes pretty much the gold standard of what a great versus set could be. Priced at $49.99, you'll get 514 pieces to build two kick ass vehicles and five minifigs.
Great set. WildStyle's cycle makes a great sound across the wooden table. All the tiny pieces had one extra in case you lose one. I wish the flames would rotate as the vehicle moves, but that would be complicated for sure. Police cruiser has very little under clearance, but on the table it is fine. Great traction on the tires. It might take an adult to get the rims into the tires, but I'm not sure.
Well, I'm sold. These vehicles are awesome, the Robo SWAT are great figures that you really can't get enough of, and Wyldstyle and Emmet are cool enough too (even in multiple). Parts-wise, there's a bunch to like, some new parts and the orange bits, which are more rare.
In summary, as a parts monkey, I'm pretty happy with this set. There are few pieces that I'll have to sort away into the ‘never going to use this brick' box but a few more snotty pieces would have been welcome. It's not a set I would have rushed out to buy but I can see it will have high play value and is good value overall.
With two great looking vehicles and 5 minifigs, this is a pretty awesome set with plenty of playability. So far this police truck and the flying police car from 70802 Bad Cop's Pursuit are my favourite vehicles from the movie sets. I just wish there were more than two of them!
For me, the star of the show is undoubtedly the superb SWAT 4 x 4 vehicle, although I'm also a big fan of the Robo SWAT minifigs and their various accessories. Although the Super Cycle is too fussy for my liking, it's nevertheless a good representation of the subject matter, and I furthermore suspect that the LEGO target audience will take to it a lot more readily than I did.
This set is probably the flagship set of the movie, and that title is not undeserving. The vehicle designs are amazing and the figs are awesome too. If you wanted to get just one set featuring the characters from the movie, this would be a good choice.
