Item came with all parts fully functional/not broken). Is exactly as pictured. My son now has a robot skeleton to add to his (regular) skeleton army, and he's excited.
After completing building this set, its value shows through the time it took to build, the amount of pieces you get, and all the play features available to it. If LEGO City isn't really your thing, maybe a big mech is. Either way you are protecting the brick-built city of your choosing and sharing in the delight of The LEGO Movie! There is not, relatively, anything wrong with this set, especially since it looks awesome.
Once the details are on, it's an impressive looking model. I'll keep it built, and I enjoyed the build, but I'm overall sad at the lack of articulation in the legs.
I have to admit I'm a huge fan of mechanic walking constructions in the size of a Lego house. So I was very happy to given the chance to review this particular set. The overall build was very entertaining especially the possibility to have a playable something after the third bag. For me also a big plus is the avoidance of the flick missiles here. Please don't get me wrong I'm not against this feature but they are kind of overused these days and not needed here. This mech is big, bad and will crush everything with his treads.
While I really love the design of Emmet's mech and its role in the movie, the actual set is a little disappointing compared to the on screen version. Articulation is pretty limited with the legs only able to move backwards. The wrecking balls can only move around the tiny chains so you can't really knock over enemies with them. At 60 dollars, I can't complain too much as it seems like one of the better parts to price ratio sets released in the last few years but I would have preferred to pay twice as much for a larger and more accurate version of the Construct-o-Mech.
Despite its height, the Construct-o-Mech is surprisingly stable. That stability comes at a price, however, namely the lack of joints in the legs and the consequent dearth of posing possibilities; you'd certainly struggle to recreate the action shot on the front of the box, for instance. It's also a shame that the mech can't rotate at the waist, and although the arms have a reasonable range of movement there's room for improvement there as well. These complaints aside, the Construct-o-Mech is an interesting-looking model, an enjoyable build, and importantly it's stable enough to be played with, unlike some previous LEGO mechs I could mention.
