This is a fun set that allows kids to combine construction play with recreating scenes from THE LEGO MOVIE 2.
Wanting to order something quick (and cheap) to kick off the new year I stumbled across ''Emmet's thricycle', the build looked interesting from the pictures so I ordered it, it came and I opened the box - which I might add has some lovely box art on it - the build didn't take too long however this is to be expected from a £12.99 set, there are several things going for this set, the DUPLO monster is I believe the only red and orange one (although with no exclusive prints can be made with parts from your own collection), the build for the thricycle and little docking station are nice with a super nice build for a petrol/diesel pump that would look really nice by itself, the thricycle is nice and very mobile and the little docking station itself has a nice play feature although I'll leave that for you to discover, the minifigure of Emmet is nice with a more degraded uniform than was seen in the first LEGO movie also included is Planty which is a nice simple build using only three parts. In conclusion at only £12.99, this is an absolute bargain set with some really nice pieces (including a new print on a 2x2 round tile), a really fun build for new builders as well as experienced builders like myself who just want something to display on their desks(currently where mine resides). The only thing that I would say is, prepare to apply some stickers which I don't mind for a set of this price however it might have been nice to get a set of exclusive prints for the petrol/diesel pump but overall a really great set (and probably one that I may consider purchasing multiples of)
This set gives you the tall "thricycle," a gas pump, and a Duplo-looking (but Lego-made) alien cyclops. These are all fairly easy to build and probably took 30 minutes or so. The three wheels of the thricycle rub against each other, so all of them turn together. With the bottom brace pieces, it can stand up on its own, but it's very unsteady. I kind of wish those pieces were a bit longer to make them more stable. It holds up fairly well in the base that comes with, but regardless this whole concept is just prone to falling over. The gas pump is my son's favorite part because he can use it for any and all Legos. The alien piece is a bit goofy and doesn't really get played with much. If you're a fan of the movie, you might get a kick out of this set, otherwise it's a bit quirky and even impractical.
I am disappointed by this set. I had high hopes for it for its unique design, but I don't think it's a good set. The Thricycle looks fine but the Duplo Invader and the sidebuild aren't that great. The inclusion of just one Emmet minifigure is also quite bad, the playability isn't good (due to how the Thricycle topples and the lame catapult feature), and the price is just okay.
At just £12.99, 70823 Emmet's Thricycle! is a set in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part theme worth picking up. It is not the most intriguing of the bunch, but it is a fun little build that showcases Emmet nicely.
This is a pretty odd set, in one way it's nice and cheap plus has a trio of builds and characters. But it's a crazy looking thing, with limited play features and an unfortunate use of stickers, on pieces which could easily been printed. I've seen people moaning the set doesn't stand up on it's own, but I can definitely say it does, admittedly a slight breeze will have it over, but it will stand up freely. Despite the stickers I love the little Octan petrol pump and the DUPLO alien is a nice addition, but would I liked it more if it was made of DUPLO elements.
70823 Emmet's Thricycle is an enjoyable set, albeit one which does not necessarily stand out across the entire theme. The vehicle is delightfully unconventional and I appreciate the rolling function which connects the tyres. Furthermore, the Octan petrol pump is attractive and its retro design represents a pleasing change from similar previous models.
