The third set I got, Gali is a nice figure. She has the same amount of articulation that the others got with the new waist swivel. The design is sorta interesting as she has somewhat of an asymmetrical looks to her armor, like Pohatu had. While I think she dose still retain the visage of a female, it's actually less noticeable this time around as she shares the same body size as the others, compared to her season 1 build, where she was obviously female. Her weapon is decent. I'm sure it's suppose to be a harpoon of some kind, and it looks nice with the new blade piece introduced in this line, But they added this weird spinning blade to the spear. Why? What's the purpose of it? Overall, Gali is a nice figure. And I can say I can recommend her.
An awesome set. The new pieces are fantastic and the build was engaging, it was alot of fun to see the set come together. The armour pieces on the shins can clash with the feet and pop off as a result. The new gear function works great and the colour scheme is vibrant and eye catching. 5/5
Gali is a decent Toa set. Alone, she doesn't have the flair of some of the other Toa, but she has a solid color scheme and a slimmer torso design that's benefiting a female Toa of Water. The spear limits her poses when she holds it in both hands, but that can easily be fixed. And when Akida is added to her back, Gali's Uniter model is quite amazing. Plus, her set comes with some nice pieces too, which is always useful.
I struggle to like Gali. As a set, she's not the worst I've had. Her color scheme is great, her articulation is good (although if you move the foot forward very much you'll knock off the shin armor), she has a good variety of functions, and looks really cool once paired with Akida. With Akida, I think it's a worthy set to purchase, because Akida adds some much-needed qualities to the figure. However, as a standalone figure, Gali lacks the personality of her 2015 set. And yeah, I think the torso shell looks like absolute garbage on some of these figures, Gali being one of the worst offenders.
The asymmetrical shapes and colors of her armor are balanced quite tastefully, and the Bright Orange contrasts with her Dark Azur primary color even better than last year's Bright Yellow. The addition of Tr. Blue to her color scheme is also quite nice, since it gives her a transparent color that is distinct from Kopaka's Tr. Light Blue. However, I have some grievances with her new proportions. Namely, her thighs are two modules longer than her shins, which coupled with the gappier armor shells on her thighs makes them look much less solid and streamlined than last year's. Her new Elemental Blade Spear of Water, while a decent evolution of her Power Harpoon from 2015, is a little bit more cumbersome than it or Lewa's blades, since she can't carry it convincingly in one hand.
While she sometimes wishes that she could wield her staff more menacingly, Gali is an excellent addition to the 2016 BIONICLE wave. While a lot of Toa lost the form factor that made them so unique in the previous year, Gali has intelligently placed armor pieces to create a figure that matches and even exceeds the previous model. She still suffers from an apparently incurable case of "way too many colors" syndrome, but a tightly regimented distribution prevents it from being completely out of control. Her simplicity, far from being annoying, is actually an asset, since it's well applied to the entire model. At the price point, it's possible that you might want a slightly more robust figure, but lovers of standard CCBS will find plenty to play around with here, and she has all the cool new features that the line offers.
