This version of Tahu is quite the improvement, and is better than last year's Tahu. This Tahu and all the other larger sets for that matter actually feel like the more classic Bionicles. The build is a perfect blend of CCBS and Technic. The swords are neat as the length can change, and the can be put together as a staff. The rotation mechanism in the torso works very well. Tahu overall is a great set, even more so with Ikir to go with him. I recommend this to anyone.
Bionicle is back for round 2, and they kick the new season off brilliantly. The design of Tahu's new looks is great, and the articulation is a great improvement with Waist Articulation! That's a first! I'm a little Iffy on the new Scissor-Swords he's given, but they work well. The combination with the Ikir is awesome(I'll talk about it in my review of that figure). This is a great figure, and it improves on many things the first figure had problems with. I Highly recommend this figure and Ikir for bionicle fans!
Tahu - Uniter of Fire is a stellar set, but he is by no means perfect. I know Technic-heavy builds aren't everyone's cup of tea; especially for those who have grown accustomed to the simple nature of popping on CCBS bones and armor. However, overlooking that I think he'd be a worthy purchase for any collector of BIONICLE or Constraction. For me, the pros easily outweigh the cons.
Overall, I have a hard time with this one. I love the mask, I love a lot of the new pieces, but I don't like the set itself. I have a hard time saying "go buy it!" for anything but the new parts.
Like most of this wave, Tahu is a mixed bag. He looks cool when combined, he can do about any pose you'd want him to do, and the new torso function works as well as every other figure. The weapon function works too, if you like that type of weapon of course. However, his colors are a mess, his textures are a mess, and he just lacks that sense of individuality when compared to his 2015 form.
I'll be honest, I went into Tahu completely expecting to give him a negative review. And yeah, there's a lot wrong with him. His color scheme is an abomination, there's a dearth of what absolutely should have been and could have been his primary color, and he makes a lot of bizarre design choices that I can't wrap my head around. But when all is said and done, he's still got a lot of fun action features (including some nifty weapons), and pulls of both playing and posing better than some other sets I've seen so far.
