Onua is a fantastic set with some great functions. The new gear function works extremely well with Onua's two-handed hammer. His stud shooter works great and is well incorporated to the hammer. The ammo is easy to lose, but you get extra, so you don't have to worry too much about it. Not only is this my favourite set of this wave of Bionicle, but it is also one of my favourite Bionicle sets of all time! Would recommend this to any Bionicle fan! Be sure to get Terak Creature of Earth as well for a nice combination.
We love everything LEGO! Our kids can spend hours creating new creatures from the Bionicle sets. These sets are a must-have for our 9 and 7 year old boys.
I like Onua. I know I have been pretty sour toward these 2016 Toa, but personally Onua is my favorite of the six. He has a good color scheme, good proportions, a great selection of new and recolored parts, and still feels bulkier than the other Toa which helps to set him apart. Really my only complaint about him is that the hammer top spins a bit too easily, and of course his unification mode isn't anything special but that is more of Terak's fault than Onua's, but other than that I would definitely making this guy one of your first purchases.
Onua definitely looks and feels like the right set to follow up the solid return of Bionicle, and I am happy that I was allowed to take a quick look back at this set. If you can find it in your stores, and for some reason haven't picked it up yet, give it a quick buy. I highly recommend it.
Does Onua tunnel his way into your heart like last year? Lacking any sort of digging weapon (uh, I think) I guess technically the answer would be no. But he will definitely smash into it instead. Gone are the exaggerated proportions, replaced with a leanness that means Onua only has room for essentials. Ultimately, though, it's the small details that actually help it the most. The half-clear armor pieces. The (fairly) strict three-color limit. The extra few parts to fill out the torso. Onua is less blustery this time around, but appears to have an eye for the finer things, which makes it a winning set all its own.
The 2016 version of Onua is a great set from a design, playability, and parts perspective. When you combine him with Terak, things get even better and the playability increases substantially. I think the set is a great value, especially if you're looking for transparent purple and gold pieces, and it would be a great addition to any CCBS fan's collection. For $20, it's a hard set to beat.
