This gift for the grandson did not disappoint. Well made, competitively priced, and arrived early. This is a well made kit and perfect for a 10 year old who loves Star Wars.
The LEGO TIE Striker set is definitely one of the cooler choices when looking for 'Rogue One' vehicles. Of course, my preference was Krennic's shuttle, but the TIE Striker was a set that I knew I could get a cool new STANDARD (sorry, caps used because I had no italics) Imperial vehicle in, and Krennic's shuttle was more of a stand-out ship. That is MY personal preference though, let that sway noone else's choices. In edition, the included minifigs are SWEET! The TIE Pilot with his silver streaks down his helmet are AWESOME (caps not used for italics)!! To be completey honest though, I can't wait for either an Imperial Cargo Shuttle set, or a set including the ship 'Rogue One' itself!! (I know that these are the same ship, but I think that 'Rogue One' should come with Rebellion minifigs, plus some Yavin IV scenery, like a temple wall(s) with info screens on the reverse. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME!!!!!)
Star Wars fans are going to love the new take on the classic TIE Fighter ship, and this LEGO version is the perfect way to bring it home to display. The first trailer for Rogue One blew people's minds by showing a scene that appears to feature a battle in the surf on a beach. The ShoreTrooper in this set will make it a must-have for anyone collecting or building an army of minifigure troopers.
This set is quite an interesting TIE design series which is not your regular TIE Fighter which you are familiar with. It's fun to play and swoosh this around but the building experience is quite boring due to the excessive use of Technic parts from within.
This is probably my least favorite set from the Rogue One wave. There are no main characters included, which hurts the minifigure lineup. The set also feels overengineered and some sections feel superfluous, and I think they could have cut the piece count to sell this at $49.99 USD. The set as it is now does not feel very worth it. In addition, some of the play features are not integrated very nicely.
Perhaps the best that can be said of the TIE Striker is that its excessive size makes for an imposing craft, and with its wings down, the bulk of the unwieldy cockpit is masked, making for a more attractive vessel. Unfortunately, there are too many flaws in both the source material and the LEGO version to grant it praise the likes of the rest of the Rogue One wave has deserved.
It was a fun build for me as an adult builder/collector, and I always enjoy new and unique minifigs like the shore trooper officer. However, at $70 for a fleetingly glimpsed TIE variant built from only 543 LEGO pieces (mostly black and gray), this feels like a set for the die-hard completist.
The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story range has been very impressive so far and 75154 TIE Striker is no exception. I like the design of the vehicle and it is very highly detailed while also offering good play value but I think the price is a little high and the designer has therefore had to use an excessive number of parts in order to justify the cost.
