I have to say, upon building this set there were a few surprises, some good and some bad. The build itself is quite easy, but very fun and very relaxing. The set itself lacks in details compared to that of the original, however due to the more accurate size and scale to that of the in universe tank, there was no possible way some of the extra details could have fit. Although I am just a collector, I don't think this takes away from the play ability for younger children at all. The set has a few functions such as the rotating blasters, and stud shooters that look better than expected on the side. There are no spring missiles which I feel was a good idea to leave out on a set this scale. The only downside is it was hard to open the canopy and reach my hand in to put the minifigure in and pull him out. All around though this is one of the best sets I have seen in the past few years from the Star Wars theme. This set utilizes an episode 3 era style of the mini-figures which is great. I absolutely love these minifigures. This set is certainly one for the collection and recommend this to any army builders, collectors, and any children who want a great set to play with! Here is for the LEGO Company to consider, and what fans want. I believe I speak for millions of fans through my encounters on my YouTube channel, LEGO Blog sites, and buying and selling with LEGO online. This set brings great nostalgia to the clone wars and I believe is a window to success for LEGO, and more happy fans. I hope that as the LEGO Company reads this they consider these fans and our request. We wish to see more sets like this. Particularly the Clone Wars/ Prequel era Republic style sets. With a new battlefront game, a new battlepack with clones would be a great idea. I would buy DOZENS, without a doubt even though they are $15. As fans, we still like Clones, and I have to say I have not purchased many new sets recently as there has been few prequel era sets. I bought a few of these tanks to show my support of the return of the Clones, and was glad to see that when I went back to my local store to buy more they were almost sold out, as many are glad of this return as well. I hope LEGO considers these points, thank you for reading and have a nice day!
Obviously if you aren't a massive Clone Wars-era fan, the set's appeal might be slightly diminished, but can you really resist the allure of the best Aayla Secura minifigure yet?
Overall, this set is a good set. I still cannot decide whether this set or 75183 Darth Vader Transformation is a better set, as this has a better build but weaker figures. The build seems a little small for the price but the inclusion of 4-ish figures helps buffer that. I honestly think you should get both; combined, their price is lower than that of the Quadjumper set and the value from both sets combined is better than the Quadjumper's value.
Like its predecessor, four small wheels barely stick out beneath the fuselage allowing the tank to roll easily along the floor at a very low profile. It is just the right height to mow down swathes of Battle Droids in the heat of battle. That speaks loudly to this set's main appeal – play. AFOLs will mostly be interested in 75182 for the blue skinned Twilek, but beyond that it has little appeal. As a display piece it is lacking – the design was clearly meant for little hands to enthusiastically roll it across a bedroom floor wreaking havoc on Separatist armies. Thankfully at this price both groups will find it an easy and worthwhile purchase.
This is one of my favourite Star Wars sets of the year so far. The vehicle is highly detailed and looks brilliant in relation to the source material, although I would have preferred to see the dorsal turret included. Furthermore, the minifigure selection is excellent and it is particularly pleasing to see Aayla Secura included given the exceptional popularity of the character and her prior exclusivity to a much larger set.
