Recommendation: meh 4.2 / 5 from 38 reviews

I was excited to see an updated version of the lesser-known Sentinel-Class Landing Craft, but was disappointed by the size and overall design simplicity of this model. This playset lacks the detail and of the most recent Lambda-Class Shuttle (Tyderium) that was in the same price range. The number of pieces and overall size of the Landing Craft seems low, not to mention the model being undersized. The dorsal fin is ugly, with an unnecessary, studded horizontal plate on each side. Overall, I give it a meh.

This Imperial Landing Craft is great and builders will enjoy every minute of building time when constructing this classic ship. The 5 mini figures are cool, especially the armor damage on the Sand Troopers.

Its a nice new sleek update to the Stormtrooper troop transport from years gone. It is a genuinely nice build with some great pieces used and I especially like the look of the cockpit. Opening up the shuttle is effortless and I really liked the inclusion of the landing ramp. Though the gaps in the front of the shuttle between the top and bottom panels is a bit glaring as well as the lack of folding function on the landing gear. The Stormtrooper figures and pilot are really well designed and look great. Though a rather unnecessary and pointless inclusion of Old Ben and R2D2..! + New and sleek locking design (especially cockpit) + Stormtrooper figs and pilot are especially well done + Great play and build functions - The use of Old Ben and R2D2 in a Stormtrooper 'TROOP' transport that were not in the original set or the scene in A New Hope - Gaps in the front - Landing Gear not folding away

Recommendation: no 2.7 / 5 by Vaderfan2187

Not a great set if you ask me. The build is not that good, and neither are the figures, with the pointless Ben and R2 figures and the inclusion of only two sandtroopers. Playability is also not the best – you can fit the included troops in with room to spare but only four troop spaces in the set is not very good and there's no fun of carrying around your minifigure army with such a small troop carrier.

The build isn't particularly interesting, resulting in a finished model that leaves a lot to be desired, based on an unpopular movie vehicle. Oh, and the minifigures aren't unique to the set. And what about the price? At $90 for 636 pieces, this set is more expensive than the X-wing at $80, with nearly a hundred fewer parts. If most LEGO builders buy sets for one of several common reasons — great parts selection, an interesting build, cool minifigs, or even just value for the parts — there just isn't a whole lot to recommend about 75221 Imperial Landing Craft.
