If you don't have the Deathstar, this set is a fantastic little replica of two iconic movie scenes. The tractor beam lever just drops like that in the larger set. When pulling the lever the "energy blue stack" drops. The canon is actually a better upgrade then those in the Deathstar. It has an automatic green shooting canon and the swiveling seat works great. I actually am wondering if I should build a few into my Deathstar :). My 5.5 year old build it herself with a few interventions, so the set is easy to build. It comes with 2 figures, which is a little disappointing. Having Darth Vader added to it would have made this set perfect since it would have been the perfect setup fight!!

This set isn't exactly the best thing for older builders, but it's great for playing with for younger kids or newer builders! The minifigures could have been better, but that's really my only complaint.

Given that for the same price fans can get a Battle Pack and some change, this is a hard one to recommend. While it is significantly cheaper than 75159 Death Star, it is nowhere near as good value for money.

Comparisons have previously been drawn between 75246 Death Star Cannon and 75229 Death Star Escape. That certainly seems justified as both sets contain brilliant minifigures and I am exceptionally impressed with Obi-Wan Kenobi, whose new hood looks marvellous. There is considerable play value too as this model incorporates numerous functions and interacts with the minifigures nicely.
