I thought it was amazing to finally get more clone wars sets, along with a new season. This set is probably one on the nicest battle packs I've seen, it's an easy way to get clones and droids, the new face print it very nice and more accurate, the builds were nice and detailed, the speeder bike just looked so much better than before, and this is just a nice set overall. I would recommend getting as soon as you can because its not easy to find.

Minor criticisms of the individual vehicles aside, they're both solid, fun ways to feature or play with the Clone Trooper minifigs that are the centerpiece of the set. It's disappointing that LEGO hasn't released a Captain Rex minifig since 2013, resulting in an after-market price of an insane $100 for the 2013 Rex variant that matches the Phase 2 helmets of the other Clone Troopers here. As a result, the lack of a Captain Rex or other named Clone Troopers in either the new AAT or this set feels like a miss.

The minifigures are definitely the outstanding feature of 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers. Each figure includes fantastic detail and should prove exceptionally popular for army building, especially following season seven of The Clone Wars where these troopers appeared in great numbers. The opposing Battle Droids are welcome too, offering additional play value.

It has been a long wait between 501st Legion minifigures, only made more unbearable by the brilliant close to The Clone Wars television show. 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers isn't a perfect LEGO set in the strictest of terms, but, it delivers so well on exactly what LEGO Star Wars fans want and have been waiting so long for. Not every LEGO Star Wars set is all about the minifigures, but this one is, and that's all it needs to be.
