The buildable figures have kind of earned a special place in my heart as a collector. It gives the ability to have so much more detail than can be obtained via a minifig. The Darth Maul figure takes it to a new level with the ability to swing his arms via the wheel on his back. My only complaint with it is that the part takes away from the overall look of him, it's very noticeable. I also wish he had come with his cape and hood to give him a little different look from the standard fighting position. LEGO is getting better at covering up the technique pieces that are used to build the structure and I'm hoping that continues. Overall, he'll make a great addition to my collection.

Fans of constraction who have concerns about non-armoured humanoids in the theme can lay those fears aside when it comes to 75537 Darth Maul. This is a very satisfying figure, with excellent and effective play features. His menacing on-screen presence has been captured quite well and the two lightsaber blades add some useful parts. On the whole this is a set that comes recommended for fans of the buildable figure range.

Opinions of 75537 Darth Maul will vary according to what you value most highly in a set of this kind. Personally, I really enjoy posing the Buildable Figures so am quite disappointed by the lack of elbow articulation but I must also acknowledge that the swinging lightsaber function has been implemented brilliantly. The head is thoroughly impressive too and includes far greater detail than almost any other Buildable Figure.
