I purchased this set for my son and he loved that it came with two characters and a cart however the cart was very hard to play with and keep assembled. He would get frustrated playing with it since it would constantly break. I would love to see this in a more sturdy fashion to really feel like it was worth it. Some pieces of the cart are now missing\due to always coming undone which now means its useless.
Although this is a small set, it still has a lot of features that kids will enjoy. The Spider-Trike has working tires, two flick missiles and an ejector seat that pops Spider-Man out of the seat when the hood is tapped. Electro comes with spinning and pivoting electricity bolts that he floats on, a bolt weapon, and a diamond.
This set is one of the most profoundly disappointing sets I've built in a very long time. While there are sets I didn't enjoy, this one I just flat out hated. Value is a very subjective thing in sets, and the era of the 10-cent ratio is long past us for the most part. But this set fails on so many fronts. They could have offset the low piece by making a creative build, but the trike is just lame. They could have given us some unique figures to add value, and they gave us a good figure in Electro but just gave us the same old Spider-man. In short, unless you really want Electro, spend your $13 elsewhere.
I wouldn't call this the worst set ever. The figs are good, the parts selection is decent, and the vehicle is mildly tolerable. But it is not worth the $12.99 USD price. It's like they took most of the production cost to make a really good Electro to the detriment of the rest of the set. I wouldn't recommend this set at full price, and unless you're after the figs or specific parts, I think you could easily go for one of the other Super Hero sets and get a better play value.
I had pretty low expectations going into this set but I still somehow managed to be disappointed by it. The only saving grace of the set is Electro, which stands out as a terrific minifigure, perhaps one of the more memorable ones in the super heroes theme. Buy this set only if you're after Electro. I foresee that I will dismantle this set very soon and salvage the sad excuse of a trike for parts. Despite being a small set, it doesn't feel like it packs a lot of value and overall, it just lacking. LEGO really need to cut back on Spider-Man vehicles and explore other aspects of Peter Parker's life.
