The mining station tower has a trap door, catapult and an exploding function that causes the tower to pop up when a lever is pressed. The mining pod has an opening cockpit, rear storage area, and grabbing claws. The Groot figure is fully articulated and the three minifigures come with weapons. There is also a spring-loaded bazooka in the set.

a good little set. the space pod is a cool little build and looks sweet. I know lots of people don't like the way lego made groot, but I like him. I think he looks good and how else are you supposed to get rocket to sit on his shoulder with a giant gun?

Overall, kind of a lackluster build. Besides Rocket and Groot, there's really no other reason to get this set.

Looking at it as an AFOL, it's not that interesting a build experience and it's definitely not a set you're going to display on the shelf next to your Cafe Corner and UCS Star Destroyer. For a model based on a film with such a strong design aesthetic, it's a little disappointing. There's no doubt that its intended to be played with rather than looked at. Everything does something - things knock other things over, Groot can wave his arms and legs around, Rocket has a big gun and a mining pod with grabby hands. A kid who's just watched these guys take on the assembled forces of Ronan the Destroyer will get a kick out of reliving moments from the film with this set, even if half of it never actually appeared on screen.

What I really love about this set is how much of a playset it is. All LEGO sets (well, most) are supposed to have some sort of play feature, of course, but this really feels like a scene from the movie with all the right parts to have a fun time. Two iconic heroes conflicting with two great bad guys, along with some cool vehicles and weapons. On top of that, there are some clever play features integrated into the scene, taking some liberties compared to the movie, all of which add more fun and play value to the set.

To be fair, if you're a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy, this is a must buy set simply because of Rocket, Groot and Nebula. If you love minifigs, this set is a no brainer but if you're after a set with decent value, Escape while you can because value is Knowhere to be found.
