My six-year-old son is a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fan AND LEGO fan so he could not wait to get this set. The best part of this set is that it has a lot of the major characters in it, unlike some of the other Marvel LEGO items, so there was no need to overspend getting multiple sets. The Milano ship was also really well-structured, and has been able to withstand some pretty active play! I also found this set to be about $10 less expensive than other big box retail stores. If you like GOTG this is a great set to own.

It's a great set and in terms of value, rockets right up the 2017 charts. Just don't place it side by side with the original, and you'll be able to enjoy it for what its worth.

All in all, by itself, I think this is a very good set. The price is good for what you get in the box: good ship, decent minifigures, and a nice Abilisk. Unfortunately, the new Milano fails in comparison to the 2014 one. If you can pick up the old one I'd probably recommend it over this one, but the new one is still a good model and a fun ship. Definitely recommend to those who don't have the 2014 Milano set.

Yet another set that is made up of bright and slightly less common parts, which will definitely help it stand out on the shop shelves. The inclusion of an Abilisk seems like a bit of a waste of pieces when the Milano feels so small, although some may find it's one of the appeals of the overall set. I suppose it does give the Guardians something to defeat with all those weapons. Compared to the original Milano set 76021 we have a darker orange and blue ship that looks great at a fraction of the price of the original, but pales in comparison size-wise. It's a highly swooshable model, with some fairly advanced building techniques in order to achieve the angle of the nose and wings, demystifying some very useful things for builders to try in their MOCs.

Until I realize my dream of owning the helicarrier, this is the centerpiece of my MCU collection. I agree with other reviewers on the issue of overall/cockpit size but I don't think it's a deal breaker. I waited until it was on sale before buying so it was definitely worth the money. The creature makes a great play piece as well and my Drax Minifigure resides squarely in the mouth. The color scheme on the ship is perfect and definitely the eye catcher that i was looking for. The build was great and i love the way the wings attach making it a very sturdy ship. I do wish it had a rear hatch but not a biggie. My favorite marvel set since I've started collecting them.

This set, in the end, is just lazy. It feels like the least possible amount of effort to make a set. I really wonder if LEGO has just built up an algorithm that's designing sets via computer, instead of people doing it. This feels like what happens when you punch in criteria to a program to generate something… like part count, price point, and some colors based on a design.

76081 The Milano vs. The Abilisk is inevitably going to be compared with its predecessor from 2014 and this sets a high level of expectation. The Milano itself is considerably smaller than that found in 76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue but I still like it very much as the details are thoroughly impressive and the new printed canopy looks splendid. It is a shame that the entire team cannot be placed inside but squeezing four minifigures into the cockpit is a reasonable compromise in my view.
