We purchased this for our grandson's 8th birthday. They came to visit for 10 days and he and his grandma put it together in one week. It was very educational--he now knows about drive lines, rear ends, u-joints, pistons etc. etc. There were some frustrating times, when we would put something together backwards and have to tear apart and make a section over, so it is very important to follow the illustrations exactly. There were 1308 pieces and we were one piece short, perhaps we used a long piece, where we should have used a short piece, but Grandpa saved the day with a small screw and nut!!! Our grandson loved to play with the self-loader and steer the truck when it was done, now he can't wait to take it home to show his other grandpa--who works in the logging industry.
