This set was a quick and fun build. It is solid enough for children to play with, and unlike the other Jedi Interceptors; had a few extra scenes which were fun to put together. After having them together for a few days, I decided to take the scenes apart and make a small stand for my set to make it appear as though it was in flight rather than just sit on the ground. I had to do this because Unlike the Jedi Interceptor included in Lego Set 7661 with the Hyperdrive ring, it doesn't have landing gear to sit on. All in all a nice small lego set to go with my collections.
Really, I think this is one of my favorite Star Wars set this year, you get three new minifigures, a good starfighter, and a decent price. I can't really ask for more from LEGO. The new color scheme of the fighter, though it's accurate the the movie version, really strikes a chord with me. I usually end up drooling over the minifigures anyways, but these guys are some of my favorites ever. Overall, this may be my favorite smaller Star Wars set. It's that good.
To summarise then, this is a great set. The craft is very swooshable, the minifigs are excellent and the extras in the form of the platforms add an additional dimension to the playability.
This is an interesting little ship, to a point, because of the compact build, but once you put it down, you just forget it. All of the OT ships have something memorable to them; you remember the X-Wing, Y-Wing, B-Wing, and even the A-Wing. You remember the TIE series. These… not so much. In the end, we're given an okay ship at a not okay price, with some good figures.
