This set contains everything that people could reasonably expect out of a LEGO model of Hogwarts Castle. Despite the few concerns regarding the use of stickers, inconsistencies with room placement, and some minor scale concerns, we can see that a lot of work was placed into the design of this set by the design team. As an iconic building of modern cinema and a set that people have been asking for over the years I can comfortably say that my expectations were met. This set blew me away with the large variety of unique parts, varied building techniques and wonderful price per part ratio.
Revived this as a Christmas present from my husband. I'm a huge HP fan. Never really owned my own lego set as I just typically help my 5 year okd daughter build her sets, but so happy to have this. The details on each section are amazing. As each section began to take form, I got more and more ezcited. Such a wonderful experience building this. I'll now add more to the start of my HP collection!
Lots of fun to build. I love Lego sets and I love working with my hands. This fills all my cravings. The only thing that I don't like is the Lego logo. I have a slight case of OCD, and it's been going haywire trying to put this set together. I've been putting the set together with the Lego logos going in two distinct directions, but some pieces I don't have a choice and the logo goes every which direction. However, this is my own little problem that will likely make no sense to anyone else. Still, its driving me crazy.Regardless, this set is so intricately detailed and the time and effort the design and engineering teams put into this is obvious. Well done, Lego!
Hogwarts Castle is a spectacular location within the Wizarding World and my expectations for 71043 Hogwarts Castle were therefore exceptionally high. Fortunately, this model does not disappoint. Not only does its exterior look absolutely magnificent in relation to the source material but the set is packed with fun references to the movies, particularly on the inside.
After building this truly magical set, I now realize that LEGO is, in a certain sense, my personal Philosopher's Stone. Nothing gets transformed to pure gold, but who need cold heavy metal? What use has gold, other then having wings and flying away from you, so you can play the Game and win when you catch that Golden Snitch. But LEGO does allow me, with some guidance, to transform a hint of an idea and a large pile of bricks into a gold-winning model, a beautiful, exhilarating proof of ones own innate creativity, and a reminder of the rewards of perseverance and skill. It might not make me immortal, but for sure, it makes me young again. One can't ask for more.
This would have to be one of the best building experiences that I have ever encountered in a large model and it is doubly rewarding if you are a Harry Potter fan. I would definitely recommend this even if you are a HP fan as you would have so much fun building this with your fellow Potterheads. One word of caution is that this is primarily a display piece so it is quite fragile.
Regardless of certain imperfections, 71043 Hogwarts Castle is still an amazing, excellent set that may teach even experienced builders a few techniques for building round structures, off-grid building, and more. It may seem odd to recommend a $400 set as a pure parts pack, but for architecture aficionados in particular, new elements in large quantities at a great price-per-parts ratio are certainly strong attractors. Overall, then, Hogwarts Castle lives up to the anticipation as well as the hype, and will make a magical addition to any Harry Potter fan's LEGO collection.
Phew, 71043 Hogwarts Castle is a very large set and building it will take a lot longer now that I have opened all the numbered bags up to look for new elements and mixed everything up! 6,020 elements looks rather intimidating when you pour it into a large pile. I'm looking forward to taking a closer look at how Justin Ramsden uses these new elements to create his microscale version of Hogwarts Castle.
The LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043) is a sight to see. Just the sheer size and time to build it was more than enough to warrant the price of it. It took about 17 hours to complete while during seasonal hours at work so I didn't have that much time per day to build and it added up to a few months in total. There's lots of little details throughout that fans will be able to enjoy including the exclusive minifigures of the Hogwarts founders. The microfigures are a nice addition as well and the printing on them are very distinguishable to what character they represent.
Without a doubt, this is a great set for Harry Potter fans. As you build it you remember details and scenes of the movies, thanks to the great level of detail and realism i the set. I would like to highlight the Ford Anglia, the Whomping Willow, Hagrid's Hut and the small field of pumpkins, the Chessboard and the stained-glass windows in the Great Hall.
It's important that you know what to expect with this set- it's a very, very expensive Architecture set, modeled after Hogwarts, with some extra attention paid to the interior. That's really what it is, It offers that same level of interesting build technique and produces a great looking final model. It's got a ton of nano-figures, some very nice exclusive mini figures, a mind-boggling variety of parts, and offers you a build that's both exhausting but also engaging throughout the whole model. If you want a Hogwarts set, this is it. It will not get better than this, plain as that. I'm sure we will see more Hogwarts sections to be added to the Great Hall in future minifigure-scaled sets, but already that pales in comparison to the accuracy this set has.
An enjoyable building experience is integral to the success of larger LEGO sets and 71043 Hogwarts Castle fares quite well in that respect. Numerous interesting techniques appear throughout the model, perhaps the most notable of which are the angled plates that form a spire above the Marble Staircase Tower and the stained-glass windows.
