This set looks fantastic and I can't wait to purchase. The Harry Potter line of LEGO sets are always crazy popular... I don't see this released lineup of sets to be any different. Having said that, these sets are new as of July 1. Therefore, I would recommend you check around before paying a price that is higher than retail ($79.99). This set is exclusive right now and hasn't been fully released, so do your homework first. Happy bricking!
This is a super realistic and vivid model of Hogwarts Express! The steps described in the procedure book are nearly 3D, which is so clear and easy to understand. In general, I will recommend this for everyone who loves Harry Potter!
I think this is a good set. The minifigure selection is great, the Kings Cross Station build is not bad, the Hogwarts Express is pretty good, playability is fine and the price is justified to me, especially since sets with trains are usually a bit more expensive. I'm fine with LEGO not including any tracks as that would have needlessly bumped up the price in my view, and I'm more than happy with what is included.
If you're a Harry Potter fan, 75955 Hogwarts Express is a must have set – that was evident by the sales figures of this set on the first day! If you can only have one set from the new theme, this is the one to get.
I had high expectations for 75955 Hogwarts Express and am glad to report that it does not disappoint. This train looks more faithful to the source material than any previous rendition and includes plenty of realistic details that one might find on any steam locomotive. In fact, this is probably my favourite of the steam trains which LEGO have produced since 10194 Emerald Night was released in 2009, almost ten years ago!
At $80 and 801 pieces, this is yet another set that sits right on the standard PPR ratio. For $80 though, you do get a lot of content- a fairly large train and a station that is far more than just a side build. This is the best looking Hogwarts Express thus far overall, though I do wish even more cars had been added to this to really spice it up. I do wish the set had at least one more figure (engineer), and for many the lack of power function compatibility could be a major deal-breaker. Recommended to Harry Potter fans, less so to hardcore train enthusiasts.
Considering the last time Platform 9¾ was released in the brick was 2001, it was sorely due for an upgrade, which has been executed to perfection. If you don't have a previous Hogwarts Express, then this is a no brainer – even at full price.
