This is a great lego set that made me very happy that I was able to buy. It looks like a 1930s Manns Chinese Theater. The exterior is filled with nice details. The Marquee and the palace sign are things that make it stand out ( a good thing) if you have other modulars. THe inside is also very nice. The ground floor is where their are all the concessions such as popcorn, candy, even water. The second floor has room for six mini figures to sit for the movie. Finally the third floor. The third floor is very plain, but it gives room if you want to add creative things up there (who knows what you'll build?) In conclusion this is a great set with lots of playability and cool features.
The Palace Cinema may not boast quite the same play value as some of the other modular sets - but it does boast one of the most impressive anterior designs of any LEGO building ever built! When you first see the model, there's no mistaking what it is - and it never fails to draw an "ooh" the first time someone lays eyes on it (even if they generally don't care for LEGO or other toys). This is a must have in my book and comes highly recommended!
Nowadays, the only way to get yourself the Palace Cinema (10232) is on the resale market. That means that finding it at the original retail price is going to be hard. However, $199.99 CAD for this set was a good price. You were getting a great set at a great value. The build has a couple of minor issues. However, in 2013, I was quite impressed with it. Each year since then, the LEGO® Group as upped the detail on these Creator Expert sets, which has influenced my current opinion. While it does suffer from very generic Minifigures, in the end I still love this set. After all these years, I still recommend it.
I'm not disappointed, as it's still a very respectable score, but I'm also not really surprised. There's loads of good points with this set, and unfortunately some bad ones as well.
