LEGO 10252 Volkswagen Beetle is just satisfyingly perfect, and it has everything that you could possibly want from a Creator Expert set. If you haven't previously considered this set, I would strongly recommend picking it up as it's just an absolutely brilliant and exhaustive LEGO build.
What is a comfort build? To me it is the level of satisfaction I got after building this model. It's not to big or to small. I was so pleased when it was completed. Looks great and you can't mistake it for anything else. Clever ideas in the building process brought a surprised smile to my face. A nice bit of kit. Comment and/or request - Since Lego has a deal with Disney is it possible to see a Herbie model? I have looked into trying to build it on my own, but, some to the parts needed are not available in white.
I've been hitting the large scale vehicles pretty hard lately in order to properly compare them, and this one is a must for your collection. Great parts, a fun build experience, and a beautiful end result means the collectibility of this set is through the roof. It's definitely worthwhile getting this set.
My daughter loved this set. Punch Buggies, which she likes to call them, are making a comeback and after seeing these cars all around town. This lego kit was right up her ally. She's was able to put this together with little help and it took about 4 hours but she also not 16+. This is a great set for any kid that as an affection for Legos. Thinking about buy the light kit so she really can show off her creation to her friends and family.
I would definitely recommend the new Volkswagen Beetle (10252) as it is really a fun build and it lives up to the standards of the Creative Expert type of sets. Plus it'll look great sitting next to the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (10220) if you have that set as well. The retail price of $99.99 is easily justified by the overall build.
This was a really satisfying build: the techniques involved certainly make it worthy of the ‘Creator Expert' label. The shape of the Beetle is well executed through the use of SNOT techniques. It also evokes images and feelings of halcyon days gone past. At $AUD150 it is not inexpensive, but I feel it is reasonable value for money.
With a satisfying and challenging build experience and a beautiful finished model that truly captures the car's unique design, 10252 Volkswagen Beetle is an absolute home run of a set. At just £69.99 in the UK, it also provides a much cheaper way of getting into the Creator Expert line than, for instance, the modular buildings. What's not to love?
Do I like it? Yes. Do I love it? No. Would I buy it (if I didn't already have it)? Oh yes. Do I want to see more classic vehicles? Absolutely. I just wish they'd tilted that windscreen...
Even though this set doesn't include a LEGO Scala Man named Chris wearing a turtleneck and cargo pants, it's still a pretty groovy set. For $100, you get over 1,100 pieces, including a massive amount of dark azure. In addition to great parts, a fun build, and cool play features, this is a stellar display set.
I must say that the final result is beautiful, it is fun to build, not too many stickers, and it is worth buying two, because those azure blue parts look incredibly good on any model you want to build. Besides, the three vehicles together form a spectacular "picnic at the beach" scene…
Once all the building steps were completed, the final model was even more impressive than I had anticipated it would be.
The finished model is a beautiful thing. The designers have captured the classic curves and character perfectly. Those new 5×5 quarter-circles that they made for the fenders do a lot of heavy lifting there. Small details like the trim and the sideboards are lovingly rendered.
Awesome Dark Azure Parts bundle, so many new elements and in great quantities. A fun build with nice techniques used. A generous supply of four printed VW logo tiles – make anything into a VW! Great looking final model that will turn heads. Who cares that my Dad thought the completed model was a Citroën CV2?
If ever these was a perfect LEGO set then this is it. It is a very interesting build that uses all manner of techniques to render the characteristic shape of the Beetle, which is no mean feat given its curvy body. The finished model is a joy to behold and perfect for showing off: not so big that it's unwieldy and difficult to display, but large enough to be packed with authentic details. The use of dark azure, a relatively new and rare colour, is the icing on the cake.
