Overall, this is an excellent set. It was great fun to play with. After I had built them, there was lots of playing to be done. The characters are fun to pose and display. Great to play with and the simplistic design means there are many additions one can make to accessories the characters.
Before this was released, I didn't think I would like this set at all. After putting it together, I realize I like it I'm much more than I thought I would. The individual figures are actually quite large compared to what I thought they would be. I still wish they would've made just regular Lego mini figures and a giant sets like a treehouse or something, but this is a good start. Adventure Time is a great show and lends itself well to the Lego format. There is much more Lego could do. Fingers-crossed.
LEGO has done an awesome job at bringing to life these silly and whimsy characters from the world of Adventure Time. Fans of the show will appreciate the attention to detail, such as the gems of power worn by Princess Bubblegum and Ice King as well as Marceline's killer axe-bass, which she is always seen playing.
If you are a huge Adventure Time fan (which I am), get this set. If you are into the brick-built figures style, get this set. If you would love to own a bundle of colourful bricks, get this set. Otherwise, this set is not for you.
Fans of the TV show may or may not enjoy this set. Brick-built characters are really simple builds as they are pretty much brick stacking and there is little play value as the builds make better display pieces. The character selection is good although I wish Lumpy Space Princess was also included. My favorite character out of the whole set is probably Jake and Lady Rainicorn.
One's enjoyment of this set depends entirely upon an interest in Adventure Time and an appreciation for the unique style of the figures included. I think some are more successful than others, with Finn, the Ice King and Lady Rainicorn being my favourites, but would have preferred to see the brick-built design cast aside in favour of more accurate shapes using a selection of curved slopes.
This simple build conveys great realism to the characters of this cartoon and provides great playability. The set doesn't contain any stickers: all decorations have been printed onto the parts. The set is very colourful and especially the characters BMO, Marceline and Lady Rainicorn stand out. Without a doubt, a set the fans of Adventure Time will love.
I think it works great as a display set, and any self-respecting Adventure Time fan is gonna want a copy. But since its likely to be a one-off set, that means no follow-up sets featuring additional characters from the show, which I think will disappoint fan collectors.
