Grandson loved it. Especially the light brick. Took 3-4 hrs. to build (a plus for grandparents).

Nice improvement over the previous Lighthouse Island. I like the versatility of the design, allowing for many different reconfigurations of the house and tower. Interior of the house lacks a little detail, especially for a building that is hinged. Love the fact that the top lights up. Nice work creating a "lens" for the light. My biggest wish is that the light would be able to flash on its own instead of having to push the "button" all the time.

The star of the show is the lighthouse, which really lights! The lighthouse features a functioning light brick, circular lookout balcony, windows, and a classic red and white theme. It also opens for the lightkeeper's cottage, which opens up to reveal a detailed interior, complete with a chair, table, lamp and a painting. The seashore features a bench, open-air fire, rocks, docks, flower, barrel, and even a lifesaver.

Recommendation: no 73 / 100 by Tom

While I really like the exterior of the building, I don't like that the tower is not hollow and the house is hinged, barren, and small. The Minifigures leave something to be desired, and I really wish LEGO would either make an actual child torso, or just stop making these ape-children. The killer whale is awesome though, and I might just try to make a few more someday in order to have a pod. I will keep this set built, but will eventually modify it to make it more my own. It does have a good value though, even at full price.
