It was so much fun building this with my son. It was great bonding and looks awesome when completed.
We think that LEGO fans will like the versatility of this three-in-one build. In all three models, there is a lot of nice detail that gives each one a realistic feel. And we think that LEGO fans will also like the color scheme of each model with the beige, black, white, brown, sand-green, and dark-red bricks. It's easy to switch between the models, making it easy for kids to change up how they want to play from one day to the next.
The Park Street Townhouse looks really nice from the outside. It has really good brick and build time values as well. As a stand alone set, it lacks a bit of detail inside. I am not a fan of the hinged design, but that might make it more fun to play with as a kid. I will modify mine, but stay true to the general design. I recommend this set based on value alone if you are trying to build up your city. A lot of the fun for me comes from rebuilding and adapting sets to suit my needs, and I am sure many of you feel the same!
Since I wasn't able to get the Modular Pet Shop, I was very happy LEGO released this set, as it reminds me of the apartment section of the Modular Pet Shop. As for the main build (I have not yet built the others) the townhouse looks clean on display, and has great playability. The bedroom, kitchen, and TV room are all really great features. This set also has many nice pieces, and comes with excellent minifigs. Although the price to part ratio is a good one, to me this doesn't feel like a $50 set. I feel it should be closer to $40 (which isn't too far off). I think it's because when I compare the Townhouse to my other house sets (Beach House, and Mountain Hut), The Park Street Townhouse just doesn't have as much. Overall this is a very nice set, and I'm glad LEGO has been releasing a lot of house sets recently.
Overall this set provides a colourful mix of parts with three builds that each have a variety of play features, and that means that your pennies will stretch further when entertaining an 8-12 year old. There is a good mix of colourful parts in this set for fans that prefer to build and then utilise the parts for another build, but there are no rare or new parts supplied in a significant number.
I opted for the Park Street Townhouse because it has a lot of things I like (bay windows, a rooftop garden, a fire escape) and 'cause it's a city house. Whether or not you like those things will decide whether or not you like the set because the build and all isn't quite interesting enough for me to give it a blanket recommendation. But I like it. A lot. So that's gotta count for something.
Originally I thought it was a cool set and while not spectacular like a modular I thought that if I didn't like any of the builds it still had some good parts. Having built it I was pleasantly surprised by all the features and little details and for once in a Creator 3 in 1 set I feel like all 3 builds are very strong.
