This isn't a set designed for play (though the cart does have wheels and you get a pitchfork so you can use your imagination a bit). It is, however, pretty much perfect for what it is designed for which is to be a charming holiday decoration. I give my wholehearted recommendation for the set as long as you realize its a decorative set and not a play set!
Overall, the Thanksgiving Feast (40123) is a step up again from the disappointment with the Halloween Trick or Treat set. Although there aren't that many parts used to create the set, the results of it is fantastic. The kitchen vignette itself is great but the addition of the food cart makes it even better.
Small with many small and incredibly complicate to build for the size of the thing. I may try to kit-bash it to get a bigger and simpler result. I'll let you know. But it is cute.UPDATE:I did kit-bash it. To me the cart made no sense. So I broke it down and used the parts to lengthen the table and stuck it on a base plate. I think you may need a ,couple of plates to hold it all together, but it's pretty easy and I like it a lot better this way. Now it's a feast.
The finished set is really nice. Despite some strange elements, I found the set very satisfying. Sadly, as I write this, the set is almost impossible to come by, long ago sold out from LEGO's stores. If you see one for the original price, don't hesitate to pick one up.
So, apart from a few largely unavoidable scale issues, it's a delightful set, equal in appeal to the first two of the year. Judging by the speed at which these seasonal sets sell out, they are clearly very popular and you wonder why LEGO doesn't produce more. I guess it doesn't want to be left with stock after the event in question.
