The LEGO Birthday Table Decoration (40153) set is a really cute set that is perfect for birthday celebrations. I do like the simplicity of how the minifigure pops up with a lever. The only thing that I didn't like about the set, and it's a major one, is that the Jester minifigure isn't complete. Everyone loves the minifigures and to have one that is missing the legs is a bummer. It's not a total loss since you can purchase it on the secondary market but I feel it should have been already included with this set.

This was a fun build for my birthday, and I enjoyed having it around for a few days before disassembling it for parts. The set has some curvy parts in non-standard colors that will be useful for MOC building.

This set is a pretty good source of curved bricks to repurpose. You are paying less than the current average for each piece. It is a nice little set when built, but I doubt if many people will keep it as is long term. The biggest letdown is the fact that you only get half of a Minifigure. It would have been so easy to make this set functional with a full Minifigure seated inside the cake.

All said and done, this isn't that great of a set. On its own the cake model is rather unattractive. It might be a must-have for Lego themed birthday parties, but there isn't much here for the AFOL. The sole redeemer is the relatively low price per piece at a hair over 8¢.
