This was a gift; the recipient loved it. We had a great deal of fun putting it together on the day after christmas. The Lego Elves line was new to me; and quite honestly I resisted the idea of "girl's lego". But having spent some time "helping" I can see why it appeals to an 11 year old. Lots of details, and quite a few fun things for her to do with the set. I have to say I would have loved the pegasus(es) at her age!And quite good value for your money. Lots to play with!
The wing action was the coolest part. Putting people on by lifting the hood and the pegasi wings ('can be clipped to othe things') are some more suggestions. Overall, my daughter was quote happy to have this set- she saved up her money in anticipation of this wave of Elves releases amd they didn't disappoint us. The colors are nice in the Elves sets and as she pointed out, different color schemes sognal which themse, but also encourage an idea of play (her words were closer to this set wouldn't be as interesting if it were in Ninjago colors- the starker contrast of the palace specifically).
The set includes two pegasus figures, named Starshine and Rufus, Miku the baby dragon, and two LEGO Elves mini-dolls of Aira Windwhistler and Azari Firedancer. The set also comes with multiple accessories such as cookies, a key, and magic map. The sleigh has room for the mini dolls, pop-out wings, and a trunk for storing the accessories. The windmill piece has a cave and a pond.
I think if you are only going to buy one Elves set, then this probably isn't it, unless you want the wing parts for a specific project. However it is by no means a dud and is still a decent set, especially when integrated with the rest of the theme to tell the full Elves story. Perhaps we have just been overwhelmed and spoiled by the sets offered in the initial wave and as a result it is difficult for this set to make its own waves in the wake of that.
