Olivia's Exploration Car

I love the little sets like these (Party Train is one I really want) I recieved this for Easter and it was a pleasant unasked for surprise. Olivia has a really cool outfit on. The spinning planetarium is really cute, and I love pretending to see constellations. The SUV is amazing, love the color scheme, and that there is space in the back for a cup, Zobo, and her laptop. It also seats two girls. Zobo is a cute little guy. He's fun to play with, and a great companion fo Olivia's science adventures! I recommend this set a lot, especially for your science loving girls! more less

You know, ponies are fine. Really. The granddaughter, M, loves ponies, and anything pony related is a surefire hit. Rubber band jewelry is a hit, too. But, at the moment this 10 year old is totally into telescopes and astronomy. Because you know what? You can do ponies, and homemade jewelry, and science - all at the same time. That's allowed now.M loves LEGO stuff and especially the "Friends" series. She builds houses and patios and has garden parties and so on. But this set adds a whole new dimension to LEGO play. There's a real, (well, you know, LEGO-real), telescope and observatory, and star chart, and synchronized laptop and even a robot buddy. This is fun, creative and out-of-the-ordinary stuff.So, I say congrats to LEGO for thinking outside the box, and then putting it all in a box. Good value and a big hit. more less

This particular LEGO Friends set not only offers plenty of opportunities for roleplay but also taps into the fun STEM/science concepts of space exploration and astronomy as kids build and play. more less

This is a great little set. The piece count for the price (185-pieces for $14.99) is excellent, especially when you consider the new parts in Dark Azure and the other new elements that are found in this wave, such as the Post-It note and the purple laptop. While there are a few stickers, I absolutely love that they are science based and are a recurring theme through the set, though personally I could do without the hearts. more less

This is a great little set, and in many ways I think it highlights the values of the Friends sets, where they can be as interested in science as they are in baking and dancing. The designs are super exciting, but they definitely get the idea across, and the car is still well put together. (Not to mention all the great parts in this set.) And I also like that this set could be a way to get kids more excited about the stars and get them interested in astronomy, which can be a fascinating science! more less
