We purchased one for our grandson for his Birthday in August and he and our 40 year old son (lol) loved it! Well, our almost 7 year old grand-daughter wanted to play with it and needless to say, that became an issue with our 5 year old grandson so, we bought our grand-daughter one for her Birthday so they didn't fight over it. Our son bought some single LEGOS from LEGOS and changed some of the colors on one of them so that the kids could tell them apart. They both absolutely love them! The age says for older kids so our son had to help put it together, other than that, the kids can work the remote control very well. They play battle bots with them! So we have two very happy grandchildren! We ( Grammy and Papa) highly recommend this! Oh, we highly recommend rechargeable batteries for them!
This was my first Lego RC and I don't regret buying it. Even my 6 years old daughter thinks it is a fun RC vehicle to play with,
Fun to build and fun to control. Once built, just turn on this terrain tackling tough vehicle and set a course. The racer can be made to go forward, turn in any direction, and reverse by simply manipulating the arrowed controls on the remote.
42065 is a great set! Its driving function works beautifully and the racer looks great while doing so. The build really isn't that complicated so it definitely has appeal for younger builders getting into Technic. It's also excellent value when compared to what it would cost to buy all of the Power Functions components included separately. The only cons with this set are the fact that the stickers aren't applied at intervals, instead being applied within a couple pages of each other, and that there are no opening doors to get into the driver's cabin, however these are minor complaints – 42065 is a fun and easy entry into remote control Technic.
What we have here is the ultimate design-your-own-RC-tracked-vehicle set. Technic it may not be, but it is pretty cool.
I think the Technic designers have made a winning Technic model here: lots of playability, Power Functions are included and the set is reasonably priced. I am sure that this set will appeal to a wide range of fans.
