I had real fun building this set, I really enjoyed seeing how it all came together the stickers are excellent I love how they give you extra bits to put in the mixer and I really like how you can swap modes with the mixer and engine
It's a nice addition to the Technic range of construction vehicles. It's unique and will attract a lot of builders for that reason alone. The build is not overly repetitive and provides an array of beams in two shades of blue. The build isn't perfect though. I'm looking forward to seeing those barrel pieces being used in a future Iron Builder competition. And for value, it's ok. $120 feels a little steep for me, especially for a Technic set where not only are there the usual hundreds of pins but also 100 joiners in the part count.
I reckon this is pretty much the perfect Technic set. It's a good size, and attractive and realistic looking. It's not overly complex, so can be built in a few hours, but offers some neat functionality that is fun to play with. It brings something new to Technic, which is always welcome. I also appreciate the fact it's a 'pure Technic' build with very few System parts, and none used for styling.
Overall it looks great, it works great, it has a great selection of parts. It's real-world accurate and the play features are all top notch. It's fun. This set changed me from being a casual Technic fan to someone who is making room in their LEGO budget for a lot more from this theme.
I understand that the cement drum elements are very specific to this vehicle. nevertheless I am disappointed that there is no B-model with this set. The art on the back of the box only highlights the functions of a single model. This means that while the set is reasonably good value for money it is really only half the set I would have expected it to be… I do love the concept though.
