Overall, this is a nice little set, full of interesting parts (mostly the Olive Green re-colours, but also others), with a fair amount of play value and two really excellent (albeit weird for some) figures.
So this is the first Legends of Chima set I've got my hands on and I've slightly mixed feelings about it. I think the figures are really very impressive and that the model is quite impressive. However I do have some concern about the prices, which seems higher than it should be as part of a general trend of ever increasing Lego prices. However I still think the set is well worth getting you get to excellent figures and a fun model.
This is a winner with my son (approx. 8 years). He was able to assemble it on his own and he plays with it regularly. It's made of quality materials and looks and works great. It has been dropped on the wood floor a few times. Nothing broke and it was reassembled easily. This would not be a good toy for a small child as it does have jagged pieces for effect and several tiny pieces (like all regular Lego sets).
The minifigs in the set are again superb, although one shortcoming of having them all named instead of generic lions or crocodiles or whatever, is that you end up with duplicates. If you buy all the LoC sets you'll end up with three Leonidas and two Crawleys. It's not quite as compelling as the Eagle Interceptor, but nevertheless it's another interesting set in the Legends of Chima theme.
