The futuristic look and design of the car was one of the reasons why I decided to pick the set up. The other reason was Infearno and his hoverboard. There are a number of new pieces throughout the build and it was enjoyable. As mentioned before, there some stickers for the car and they add some little details without being too annoying to apply.
The Ultra Agent line revolves around villains with disaster-based themes, and the Ultra Agents are the team out to stop them. Kids can imagine all sorts of action scenarios and stories with this set thanks to the multiple figures and accessories.
I bought this for my son who is a Lego Maniac. He likes building kits as instructed when he first gets them, but before long they are deconstructed and combined with other Legos in builds of his own design. So, the determining factors when buying kits are 1- does the kit have great pieces that he doesn't have or ones that he needs more of, and 2- is it a cool kit as it is supposed to be built. Number 1 always has priority. So, based on his matrix of worthiness he said this an awesome kit.
In the final analysis, the set was definitely worth it, and although not at all display-ready in its original form, a change here and there can improve that 100%. It's not perfect by a long shot, but Infearno's Interception has the basics down!
Solid build, good design, I'm tempted to pick up more Ultra Agents sets.
The main vehicle is a work of art, with colors and motifs that evoke the light cycles of TRON and a shape that resembles the Spinners from the movie Blade Runner (to my regret, I have not seen either movie — I'll turn in my nerd card when I leave). It transforms from a rolling “street mode" to a flying “hover mode" by hinging the rear wheels down and the front wheels up, though thanks to the angle of the wheels it can still roll even when in hover mode. It would be cool if the four hinged wheel hubs were linked, but this is probably not possible on a set this size, so each wheel hub hinges independently. The concealed arrow shooters are both stylish and effective, as is the ejector seat.
I think this is a pretty good-looking set that's also fun. It is $30, but I think it's worth it. Especially for the TRON look. Have I mentioned TRON enough? I don't think I have. But, putting that aside, I'd recommend the set. It's a lot of fun.
