Water Strider

Honestly, after it's all said and done, it feels like a $40 or $45 set. And even at that price, I'd say it would be worth picking up. You get 494 pieces, which pushes it closer to a $50 value. In the interest of full disclosure, lot of those pieces come in the form of Technic elements but after its all said and done, you barely notice. The overall build time is very short so you'll be playing with this set quite soon after you start. more less

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Water Strider (70611) is a cool looking set and is bigger than I expected it to be. Although it is one of the larger TLNM sets, it didn't actually take that long to build as it took only about an hour to complete. As to the question of is it worth picking up, I would say yes. The minifigure selection is great, the build was better than expected, the price point is perfect, and it didn't seem that LEGO was throwing in parts to bump up the piece count. more less

I'm writing this review from the point of view of an adult fan of LEGO. The model itself is great—fun to put together, and looks fantastic.But the real reason I'm even bothering to write this review is that this is a fantastic deal if you are looking to kit-bash (use the pieces for other projects). There is a large variety of interesting pieces here, including four minifigures and some weapons, things you won't ever get in the generic tubs of bricks that LEGO also sells.And here's the kicker—with the current amazon discount (20% off MSRP), this set works out to be under the magical bar of $0.05 per piece. It's the only set for sale directly from amazon (as opposed to third party sellers) that has that distinction, period, including the generic tubs of LEGO bricks specifically designed for creative play. The deal is so good, with such great pieces, that I bought three copies of this set: one to build and display, and the other two to cannibalize for parts. more less

This set is pretty cool. the minifigs are really cool. This would go with ninjago city docks. the pufferfish hat is one of my favorite minifigure parts. The mech is really fun to play with, but is really hard to fix and very breakable more less

70611 Water Strider is loaded with play potential, has a great look and lends itself to all sorts of interesting combat poses. The attractive design paired with its impressive size, makes it a striking display model. I expect this will prove one of the most popular sets from The LEGO NINJAGO Movie range and cannot recommend it enough. more less

This is quite nicely designed, albeit with a repetitive build. However, there's something more which bumps the set from “good" to “great": the price. £39.99 (UK), $69.99 (Aus), and $79.99 (NZ) is pretty good value, but $29.99 (U.S.)?! Wow. That is amazing value and is… *whispers* honestly a little underpriced. more less

I love that this set has a bit of an Ultra Agents feel to it, and the mechanisation of a water dwelling insect is a fun twist for Nya's vehicle. Although the build it quite repetitive thanks to the four similar legs, the end result looks great and those legs offer some great play functions. more less

70611 Water Strider did not initially stand out among the first wave of The LEGO NINJAGO Movie sets from my point of view, perhaps because of its plain colour scheme in relation to the other ninja craft. However, it has proven to be a very pleasant surprise! The model is remarkably large and I like its spindly design which gives the impression that this vehicle would be a lot more nimble than a bulkier machine such as 70615 Fire Mech. more less
