The The LEGO Ninjago Fire Mech (70615) is probably topped the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612) as my favorite set so far. I'm impressed with the size and design of it compared to other mechs that LEGO has released in the past from various themes. The playability and poseability are there as well. Kids will definitely have a lot of fun with it.
Can not be any more angry right now. Item came in retail packaging and is destroyed, the box is taped shut all around it very poorly, and this is a present. It looks like someone kicked it around for an hour and then dropped it off at my house. Very disappointed.
This is an enjoyable, impressive, towering mech that captures the essence of the movie model, with a solid construction that will delight fans of NINJAGO and decent, detailed LEGO builds.
I have mixed feelings about the set. It has a good price and looks imposing thanks to its huge size, but I'm not a fan of the lack of poseability, the weak play features, of the occasional wobbliness. The minifigures aren't particularly great either, as is the big gap behind the cockpit glass.
I think the Fire Mech is a fine looking beast. It looks taller and more imposing than I had expected, and thanks to the inclusion of points of articulation in the shoulders, elbows, hips, ankles and the front of the feet it can be readily posed. It's actually pretty stable when standing upright, but some trial and error is required if you want to pose it more creatively.
It's a big flashy model, but I'm just not that happy with it. The price per piece is good, but there aren't many exciting elements or colors. For me, this is one of the few disappointing models in the theme. Good, but not great.
Despite some of the flaws I've pointed out earlier in this review (most notably the missing knee joints), this is actually a pretty excellent set, with an overall design that would look at home among the best fan-designed creations.
