My kids love these things. I love that they require them to assemble it themselves and they seem to be teaching them a little about mechanical engineering and how different parts interact with each other to not only make something, but how the parts work together to make different parts move. They love to assemble them, play with them, disassemble them, and reassemble them again. Hours of fun.
The completed Gali figure has multiple points of articulation in its arms and legs. It comes with a harpoon weapon and two shark fins that it wears on its feet. The shark fins can also be combined with the harpoon to create an Elemental Trident. Gali also has a wheel-operated bashing battle arm function that swings its arm up and down by turning the wheel on the figure's back.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with both of these sets! I think they are a great taste of what the new BIONICLE theme has to offer, and a great value for money. Gali remains my favorite of the new Toa, and Lewa is one of the most unique of the six in terms of his armor and body proportions. I definitely recommend them to any BIONICLE fan or any LEGO fan that wants to dip their toes in the water of the constraction (buildable action figure) category.
Buy Gali. And then buy her again. In fact, just skip the rest of the wave and buy 13 Gali's. She's fantastic. Her colorscheme is consistent, bright, and looks great. Her weapons are versatile, her look is feminine, and her build could hardly be any better.
For its price, this would be one of the first Toa I'd recommend getting. A good price, a nice distribution of pieces and colours, and the build is satisfying and fun to play with. Until I get any of the other Toa, I will stand by my opinion that Gali is the best Toa of this WAVE. And while I'm all DRIED up from puns, I will continue to praise Gali. So I hope that when you got the dough, and the Masters come out, you know the answer to the question "What set do we get?! WATER we gonna do?" The answer is Gali, BTW.
Gali is a great figure, and stands out in a collection. She is a must have for anybody interested in Bionicle 2015.
Gali is probably my second best of the Medium Toa (Lewa will hold a huge place in my heart, for various reasons) but coming in second place doesn't mean it's a bad set.
Ultimately, Gali's more a looker than a player. She poses ridiculously well and has a great style. But that design sensibility comes at a cost of not being very play-heavy; the weapon is too cumbersome even for the gearbox, and the armor and bits can get in the way of the way one holds the set. Her color scheme, too, is disappointingly messy, and feels like it could have been a lot more than what it was. That said, I'm a sucker for underwater themed sets, and Gali does that very well, so she gets the thumbs up from me.
