Overall, this is a great Minifig. He loses some points for the lack of detail on the rear torso and legs, but he has great accessories, front detailing, and uniqueness that bring up his score.
I've said this before, but LEGO has continued to step up their game with the Collectible Minifigures theme and Series 15 (71011) does not disappoint. There are some minifigures that are more sought after than others but I see every single one of them having a place somewhere in the LEGO universe and in many MOCed themes.
The parts assortment is average. Apart from the nice helmet, there is nothing much to highlight significantly. The bamboo swords are duplicate of the existing LEGO katanas weapon in a wooden colour. I was hoping for the actual bamboo sword design though.
So my overall thoughts are its a damn good series I think we only got 4 weak minifigures, the rest were high quality. My top 4 were the farmer, Animal Control Officer, shark suit guy and the wrestler. Each time you wonder what LEGO can come up with next and yet they continue to really impress me. I love new elements that can be used in my own creations and series 15 is packed with them.
I can't say that I'm entirely excited about it (although than the obvious "one step closer to completing the set"). I do like the headpiece, though again I'm not sure how useful the piece will be outside of this particular character.
As a minifigure, the Kendo Fighter is actually decent – it's not bad or anything, just a tad lazy and feels a bit like an afterthought. Context is everything though, and among the other Series 15 characters, the Kendo Fighter just fails to make any sort of lasting mark on me.
It is worth mentioning that there are five female figures here to the eleven males, which is a fairly standard ratio now even though there are plenty of opportunities to make it an even split. The handicap guy is something fans have responded to well, pairing well with the upcoming wheelchair figure. The Shark Guy is pretty fun. We get a couple of animals. Everyone has their favorites, though most of the popular figs come with large odds in favor of fans. Basically, there is a little of something here for everyone, which is the best thing to be said about any Collectible Minifigure Series.
Another ho-hum figure in my opinion, like a ninja he just sort of disappears. Perhaps it's the sheer quantity of Ninjago figures that makes this one so lackluster. The tan katanas (sorry, shamshir) could prove useful in the future.
This series is shaping up quite nicely, with a broad range of excellent minifigs.
