The Jewel Thief is great. Growing up, I was always a big Catwoman fan, and this minifig is right up that alley. The minifig herself comes with a diamond and a grappling gun. My one complaint about these accessories is that the grappling gun does not come with a rope. But, for me, the negatives end there.
I've said this before, but LEGO has continued to step up their game with the Collectible Minifigures theme and Series 15 (71011) does not disappoint. There are some minifigures that are more sought after than others but I see every single one of them having a place somewhere in the LEGO universe and in many MOCed themes.
The parts assortment is average and is made up of common parts for the diamond and the rope launcher. I like the overall design including the facial appearance. The hairpiece is the same as Black Widow and I prefer this new black colour instead.
So my overall thoughts are its a damn good series I think we only got 4 weak minifigures, the rest were high quality. My top 4 were the farmer, Animal Control Officer, shark suit guy and the wrestler. Each time you wonder what LEGO can come up with next and yet they continue to really impress me. I love new elements that can be used in my own creations and series 15 is packed with them.
Given how common crooks are in regular LEGO City sets, I can't say that this figure interests me much at all. Not even her grappling gun can save her in my book. I wish that LEGO would have included another City figure that wouldn't be likely to be included in a classic City set (such as the Judge or Plumber from previous Series).
The Jewel Thief is pretty boring and uninteresting – there's nothing that makes me go “wow". There are some nice individual parts such as the hairpiece and the torso, but as a whole character, the Jewel Thief does nothing for me.
It is worth mentioning that there are five female figures here to the eleven males, which is a fairly standard ratio now even though there are plenty of opportunities to make it an even split. The handicap guy is something fans have responded to well, pairing well with the upcoming wheelchair figure. The Shark Guy is pretty fun. We get a couple of animals. Everyone has their favorites, though most of the popular figs come with large odds in favor of fans. Basically, there is a little of something here for everyone, which is the best thing to be said about any Collectible Minifigure Series.
I like this figure, it's low key, like a jewel thief should be. The printing on it is minimal, as it should be, you don't want a bunch of flashy colors or designs that can catch attention when you're pulling off a heist. The grappling hook is nice, but sort of useless without any string. But the best feature is her hair, sexy.
This series is shaping up quite nicely, with a broad range of excellent minifigs.
