I purchased this set a while ago and I love it. It is very sturdy, has a lot of play value, and looks really good. However, there are some minor issues: 1. The mech's legs are too short for its body. The only problem this raises is the fact that you cannot pose it very well. 2. The set includes no shoulder pads for Clay. This is just a minor issue, but I thought that you should know that before buying this. 3. The giant sword is placed at an awkward angle. This is also a posability issue. That said, I think that you should buy this set for someone ages 7-14. A younger child would have trouble with it.
I found this to be a really great mech build, and for the price, I plan on using it as a basis for a future mech project. It has a solid build, and all the characters are nice. The way the head is done is amazing. Good job who ever designed this set. I love it.
This was a fun build: I was surprised by the techniques used occasionally, and there are a number of features in common with those used by some of the great mech builders, whose models can be found online. I loved the idea of the mech in the mech, and the printed holograms, as well as the mini figures are bold in their colour schemes. While the overall appearance of the mech is rather squat, with the knees perpetually bent, it is quite stable.
It's a solid set for $39.99. $29.99 would have been really nice (Like the King's Mech), but I understand the pricing due to the extra Battle Suit inclusion. Does it have its problems? Certainly. The sizing is the one major problem, making it look like a dwarf with its large torso and short legs. Is it a solid parts pack? Most definitely. Would I pick it up again? For sure. Despite the problems, it's a solid mech, and the Battle Suit really blends in well (the helmet that covers it is a sweet build as well).
All finished, this is a meaty set. The mecha doesn't fail to live up to my high expectations and the secondary builds are a lot of fun too. Honestly, I can't recommend this set enough.
