This set allows kids, and adult collectors, to act out scenes from the Star Wars movies or imagine their own story lines.
A very beautiful set but most important with great pieces... While its a retired set, you can still buy one in good prices through Bricklink.
This is a very difficult set to rate for me, since I love the scene and what we do get is excellent overall. I just cannot help but think that this should have been saved for a higher price point, where it could easily have been a challenger for the greatest Star Wars set ever. As it is however this set is undoubtedly excellent for play or display, and if you do not feel like buying the entire set, the Bith Musicians, Greedo and Dewback are well worth purchasing individually.
A fantastic Lego set. It is by far one of the best sets ever made. There is a great selection of all new minifigures. The cantina is a great model for both play and display. The dewback looks cool. It is also very decently priced. What more could you ask for in a lego set. The only bad thing is that owning this set will make you want another one. With two of this set you can have a full set of six cantina band members, a pair of sandtroopers on dewbacks, and build the second cantina as a mirror image to the first for a larger playset. You can also have Han shoot Greedo first, twice.
I don't know… I feel kinda conflicted. There's nothing inherently wrong with the set, but for some reason it doesn't feel very good to me either. The builds are okay… I'm tempted to say LEGO should've left out the Landspeeder in favour of expanding the Cantina, but I like the inclusion of the Landspeeder too. I do think this set could've been placed at a higher price point in order to effectively make the Cantina more substantial.
I really like this set, it was fun to build and there's lots of nice little touches. The design of the moisture evaporator is top-notch and I like the idea of the water trough at the back. Oddly both of the seating compartments slide forward (they're connected to the trough!), I'm not sure why, but I suppose it might be fun for youngsters. The landspeeder is a very similar design to the one is 8092, but the new colours are great, and it's my favourite version to date.
This set could have been so much better. I would have moved the Dewback/Speeder/Sandtrooper into their own little set and sell it to us for $35 or whatever price we could complain about. Of course, I'm not a LEGO designer, so they don't let me make calls like that. But putting the full resources into the Mos Eisley Cantina would have made for a better overall set. Not just for me as a collector, but as a playset for kids. As it sits now, it's not good for either of us.
Given what an iconic location this is from the original film, a new LEGO version is highly welcome and obviously it's a vast improvement on the size of the 2004 version. The proliferation of hinges and rails makes the Cantina a lot of fun to arrange and play with, and overall this is more a playset than a display set. The hefty price tag has no doubt been inflated in part by the development and production of the Dewback, but you get a lot of different models for the price, and superb minifigures which will surely excite your visiting SW friends! But if you're not bothered about the minifigs and Dewback, this set is not worth the price. Aside from the Nougat plates, I wouldn't buy it for parts unless you like curved Tan/Dark Tan pieces.
This is one of the more unique and iconic Star Wars sets that's not a ship or features an overabundance of gray or black. It's a neat playset with unique colors such as the flesh colored plates on the landspeeder.
