The details, features, and figures let kids, and adult Star Wars fans, act out scenes from the Star Wars movies or come up with their own Imperial scenarios. This set is intended for kids ages 9 to 14, but we think it is a must have for LEGO Star Wars fans of all ages, including adult collectors.
The Lego Star wars - Imperial Star Destroyer (Lego model # 75055) is an excellent Lego rendition of the destroyers seen in the Star Wars movies. It is well designed to be sturdy & practical for play and for display. It has a handle that may be used to carry it when swooshing through space without worry of damage (it retracts into the top of the model when not in use and blends in nicely so it is not noticeable). The minifigures are great also. It also has the new spring-loaded missiles, a special new miniature Emperor Palpatine hologram figure, and a Mouse Droid.
Overall, I like this set. The build is really good, and playability is nice, especially with the synchronized turbolasers. The minifigure selection is good (I like Vader and the stormtroopers) but could be improved in terms of quantity – one or more named characters wouldn't hurt. The price is also a little high, especially in the U.S. Plus it comes with a free poster – what's not to like? Apparently LEGO likes this set as well, since 75190 First Order Star Destroyer uses almost the exact same template! Then again, if it ain't broke, why fix it?
Despite its flaws this is a good set overall. The price may be high and the model is certainly smaller than I would like, but the Minifigures, features and appearance of the set have won me over to an extent, and I am fairly happy with it.
