This version has reached that point where future versions will be based off of this iteration. There is very little more than can be done to make this set better. The minifig selection is quite nice; Threepio and Artoo never looked better and getting the two Jawas that were previously only available in 75059 Sandcrawler in a cheap set can only be a good thing. The set's only weakest point really is the stickers that need to be applied to the inside wall of the curved panel but thankfully they are large and can be expertly applied with a little extra time and patience.
The engineering on this is amazing- my son loves it and he and my husband are having a blast hiding characters in it and "escaping". It has held up surprisingly well with the few "unintentional landings" it has taken and, unlike most lego projects, it is pretty easy to put back together when it pops apart.
Overall the LEGO Star Wars Droid Escape Pod (75136) is a much better improvement than the previous 9490 version as the general look of it is more film accurate. Although there are stickers, they do bring out the details of the pod rather well. The minifigure selection is good especially considering that both C-3PO and R2-D2 are exclusive even though they have slightly new printing. The two Jawas are good additions too and this set is the cheapest way to get them in a set if you want to expand your Jawa army. The cost of the set is a little high but there are the four large panels to take into consideration so I think $24.99 is justified.
3PO and R2 escaping the Star Destroyer in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope is a classic Star Wars scene, and the one that kicked off the story for the Original Trilogy. This small set allows fans to recreate that escape and the droids crash-landing on Tatooine.
Bought this along with the Hoth battle set, it was a very good set in my opinion, much improved on the previous offerings. I like the escape pod and the way it opens, although there are a few stickers these really add good detail to the set. C3P0 and R2-D2 are both included along with two Jawas making this a good set for mini figures with a low price tag. I'd like to see a new Tattoine Sand trooper set (with Dewback) to augment this set???? Another nice, well priced set from LEGO, well done.
think the minifigures are good – C-3PO and R2-D2 will be appealing to a lot of people, and the Jawas will be good for collectors too. The escape pod itself looks okay but I think the playability is a bit low and the price is a bit high.
