Recommendation: yes 5 / 5 from 4 reviews

This set is by far one of the overall most well thought-out sets in the series, and in Lego's lineup. The engineering of the pit structure's design is outstanding. It's sturdy, packs an exceptional amount of detail, and folds into a smart package for storage when not in use. The interactive features and size of the building really add to the fun factor and play value, and they accommodate all of the cars in the Speed series (with exception of the Raptor truck). The shape of the 919 captures the likeness of the real race car, even without the decals, which is pretty impressive given the 6-wide limitations. The 917K is the real reason that I bought this kit, and while it does have it's compromises in shape, it looks fantastic with or without stickers. The rear of the car impressively captures some tricky mechanical design features of the real race cars, and the stickers really complete the famous red and white livery of the Le Mans winner. This set is impressive for both play and display, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, regardless of age.

Believe or not, we got this for our 9 year old granddaughter's birthday. Only took her 2 days, part time, to build. She loved it. Now resides in a special spot in her room. We were very impressed with how the cars looked after they were assembled. Very cool. A little price for only 2 days of assembly but still gave it 5 stars for how much she loved it. We are excited she likes race cars,

There are a lot of great details that go into this set for racing fans, right down to the sponsorship decals on the vehicles. Fans will have fun constructing their own LEGO models of these iconic racing vehicles and then putting the 919 Hybrid to the test in their own race against the classic 917K car.
