This set is from LEGO's DC Comics Super Heroes line and comes with everything needed to create and stage a battle scene between Brainiac and the superheroes. Brainiac and the Skull Ship can also be used for recreating scenes from the LEGO Batman 3 video game.

At $40, this set has crazy value especially if you're a new DC Super Heroes fan. This new wave of DC sets are doing it right – giving everyone equal opportunity to collect all the important DC Super Heroes, even if some of the sets are quite expensive. Thankfully, Brainiac Attack manages to do things right by offering what all LEGO Super Heroes fans love – tantalising minifigures and a terrific model.

This is definitely a set to get hold of if you're collecting the Super Heroes minifigures, not least because of the exclusive Brainiac and Supergirl. For the builders, Brainiac's machine offers something different in terms of space craft or enemy vehicles, and there are a few great techniques we can pick up: most impressive for me was the way the skull face was constructed, as well as the innovative use of the tail parts.
