There's a lot of action to play out in this construction set, and that's really going to appeal to kids who like Batman and who want to build and create their own action-packed superhero stories. The inclusion of minifigures for Ra's al Ghul and his daughter Talia lets kids play out good versus evil adventures right out of the box but will also be fun for collectors who will like adding these villains to their collections. Plus, it will be nice to add this new Desert Batman minifigure to their collections.
great set considering price and new characters, desert batman has great printing and robins new cape in a nice detail
We had to wait a couple of weeks for this to get delivered, but the second we received it my 9 year old got to work. He had the set put together in a hour and started playing with it. He loves it.
I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the build for this set. It isn't a great value per brick, and it is an even worse value in terms of build time. The desert buggy is neat, but the partial building is nothing to write home about. The Minifigures are pretty good, and you get a lot of them for the brick count. I am particularly happy with the Batman variant and Ra's Al Ghul.
At face value, this set is really poor value but if you take a long-term outlook on LEGO sets, it's worth a pickup, especially if you're a DC Super Heroes fan given how excellent the minifigure lineup is. I'm not too happy about paying AU$55 for this set (at Kmart) but I definitely do not regret adding this set to my collection.
It is no secret that Super Heroes sets traditionally rely on minifigures as a selling point but that has rarely been more true than in this set. The individual models are not bad but none of the three are particularly impressive and the building experience is accordingly dull. Much of the detail relies on stickers which is disappointing in relation to the Marvel Super Heroes sets in this wave where the designers have been able to offer brilliant minifigures alongside an excellent model in each case.
