76085 should be viewed as a minifigure and sand green parts pack. In that light it does quite well, even for the price. It offers a lot of value to kids, minifigure collectors and AFOLs alike. The appealing minifigures make multiple copies worthwhile – I would love to see a display populated by those pearl gold figures.
At full price, I guess Battle of Atlantis is a satisfactory set. It's a bit pricey if you are in it just for the Aquaman Minifigure (like me). As I am writing this, the set is 40% off at Walmart. At that price, I rate this set at 81%. The actual build is fairly unimpressive, but you get some nice bricks to re-purpose. Even at full price, those bricks are not a bad value. At 40% off, they are on par with the bulk bricks you get in Classic brick boxes, or the large Creator sets.
I am not the biggest fan of this set. The minifigures are quite good, but two of them feel slightly on the superfluous side, and, as I previously stated, I would rather have had Mera and another Parademon instead of the two guards. The play features are okay but are mostly Super Jumper related, and, thus, a bit lacking in creativity. In addition, the build is very small and uninteresting, especially for the price.
76085 Battle of Atlantis contains an exceptional selection of minifigures and pieces but the Atlantean scenery is not particularly interesting. I quite like the ruined pillars and the sand green colour scheme looks great but there are few play features included and the main function relies upon a super jumper which is not terribly effective. The model also feels rather small when compared with other Super Heroes sets of a similar price.
