Great simple build,Based on this summers new Spider-Man film. The set builds one of the films 'elementals ' which are based on fire, water etc, this one the fire based one, made to look like it's made of street parts ie lamp-post, traffic light, car parts plus fire, molten rock etc.Looks good once built. The three figures are all great, a fireman, a new spidey in stealth suit which looks fantastic plus the brilliant version of mysterio, all nicely detailed! Great set well worth the price for what you get!
Basically, Lego tends to have difficulty when it comes to making fluid figures--the Clayface figure from the recent Batman series, for example, winds up looking knobby. In this case, Molten Man looks more like a conglomerate of pieces rather than a fluctuating figure. Lego cannot help that--there are just limitations to blocks, and sometimes the imagination has to take over. I have to dock this set for its reliance on stickers, however, as they complicate a build for younger Lego fans.
On the whole, I think this set is good. Not exceptional and not terrible, but a good set. The minifigure selection is good enough – Stealth Spider-Man and Mysterio carry the wave while the firefighter's a bit lame. The Molten Man build is okay but I feel he's a bit too cartoonish. Playability is good as Molten Man is poseable and is fun to play with.
Despite the apparent prevalence of lava-based LEGO characters, 76128 Molten Man Battle definitely stands out. Molten Man appears incredibly detailed and some unusual building techniques have been employed, capturing the appearance of a villain whose body is constantly changing. The trans-orange chains and aerials seem particularly impressive in that respect.
