This Lego Hydro-Man attack set is pretty cool. The set has several fun elements for launching minifigs into action. The overall build for the set has a lot of potential to also be used with other sets. The Venetian bridge and gondola can be used with other Lego sets so the kids can make some of their own creations. The build instructions for this set are clearly written and easy to follow. My kids had no issues with building the set. The cool thing about sets like this is once the kids are finished with the fun of building it they can then play with it and create their own Spider-Man scenarios.
I got these sets in a LEGO Store for myself (obviously) and this set MAY be my favorite out of all 3. First of all I love playsets, and this is what a playset should be. The display opportunities for the set are many, and only some look wrong. I love the details such as the rat and diamonds under the platform, and more. The bridge exploding is a fun play feature, and I love the inclusion of Hydro-Man and the new Spider-Man mask mold.
On the whole, I think this set is – surprisingly – pretty good! I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, especially since I am personally not the biggest fan of LEGO playsets. The four minifigures included are great; MJ and Peter Parker will be a big draw for LEGO Spider-Man fans. The build itself I think is actually quite good.
Unfortunately I was not keen on this set. Other than Mysterio I don't think it really screams Spider-Man at you, or even superhero really. It's very basic for a non +4 set, and didn't take long to build with my son. He likes all the action buttons to press but most of the set is too easy to break apart which annoys him when he's trying to play, the white bridge arches especially. LEGO is mainly a building toy so expecting it to double as an action figure set maybe be unfair (even if LEGO seem to be pushing this recently) but even the building part of this set wasn't that fun.
