This is a creative and beautiful set. It is about a special holiday in Asia which is celebrated around the world. Even when we lived in Dallas Texas, the Dragon Boat Festival was celebrated publicly with races of 40 foot dragon boats on Lake Carolyn in May each year. I bought this set in Taiwan because I figured Lego wasnt going to market it here in North America, as Lego did with its "Asia-Exclusive" Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner (80101) and Dragon Dance (80102). Well I am happy that Lego realized there is a market here for sets like this.
Given the rarity (at least initially) of this set, this is a very highly collectible set, especially if you have the first two in the series. There's some great parts included, and let's not forget the 15 minifigures! That's pretty unheard of for a set that's got this amount of parts and at this price point. That all leads to a set that's great value for money, and mega collectible.
At the end of the day, all the elements of this set come together beautifully for an all-round great experience. The value and the amount of LEGO “stuff” that you get in this set far eclipses the modest pricetag and makes for such a rewarding build.
There were many who, when seeing the three Chinese sets, expressed the opinion that 80103 was the least impressive of the three. For the price (49.99 Euro, 44.99 GBP, assuming around $60 US, 643 pieces) it's a pretty good deal. Quite frankly, even with the premium of having the set shipped to me I feel the set's a good value.
